Oh The Places You’ll Go: Linvilla Orchards

Over the past month I’ve been working on a number of projects at home – prepping for our Halloween Brunch, patching some damaged walls, and painting our front door. While working on these projects I prefer to have my son, Kevin, out of the house while that work is ongoing. But where to go?

Recently my husband, Pat, and I took our son to Linvilla Orchards to visit their pumpkin patch. This was actually our second visit to a pumpkin patch as the photos from the first trip didn’t turn out well (3pm with the sun directly overhead on an overly warm day does not make for good pictures). I grew up visiting Linvilla and have fond memories of jumping from the “huge hayloft” window into a thick pile of hay. My husband is not from the Delaware area so this was his first introduction to Linvilla.

As you can see from the photo, once again my son was not impressed by a pumpkin patch. I guess pumpkins aren’t his thing. We’ll see if this holds true next year. Happily there are
many other things to do at Linvilla and we were able to easily distract Kevin. My husband and I were impressed with the variety of things to do and over the past month Linvilla has become our “where to take the baby in a pinch” spot.

The crazy thing is we haven’t done even half of what is on offer at Linvilla because Kevin is just too small still. We usually tour the zoo, walk the grounds a bit, visit the garden center and shop at the market. Tomorrow Pat is going there first thing to pick up our fresh, local turkey and an apple pie from their bakery. In December we’ll be taking Kevin on a Wassailing Caroling Hayrides and we’ll be cutting our own Christmas Tree.

And now for a little discount – if you register to cut your own tree before December 1st Linvilla is offering a 10% discount. And as a special bonus just for today they are giving a free poinsettia to the first 1200 customers who purchase a pie today.

As always, we aren’t paid or perked – these are just our opinions!
