To Spank or Not to Spank

Aly and I have different opinions on the spanking issue and even my husband and I don’t agree as to how we’re going to handle disciplining our kids.  However, in lieu of opening up a can of words about this controversial topic on our blog, we’d rather present an interesting article about countries, in particular Sweden, who have criminalized corporal punishment in the home and at school.

Eek! I think people certainly take spanking too far at times and use it all too often instead of as a last resource for serious misbehavior (which is very unfortunate and sad), but I think government telling you how not to discipline your children is just as scary and sad, even if they mean well. There has to be another way or other resources to avoid “abusive” parents…at least, to me, that seems like te aim of the law.
